iKhaya Le Themba, or ‘Home of Hope’ is a non-profit organisation that has been building, discipling, empowering and caring for communities since 2003. Enthused by the concept that it is better to give than to receive, a team of concerned volunteers came together to provide home-based care to the terminally and chronically ill in Khayelitsha. They use this platform to share the good news of Christ.
As of 2011, having made over twenty-four thousand home visits and having served more than twenty-five thousand meals, the iKhaya Le Themba team has seen countless healings, salvations and lives changed for Jesus.
iKhaya Le Themba is God’s heart for serving the poor in a practical way and includes the services of a soup kitchen; an HIV support group; training home-based care workers throughout Southern Africa, an empowering support and income group; a critical maintenance team aiding in the repair and maintenance of patients’ homes; as well as Bible teaching, worship and fun time with orphans and vulnerable children.
