Guidance & Counselling
COURSE FOCUS AREAS
Through a number of discipleship courses, running a few times during the course of the year, we endeavour to bring healing and restoration between us and others, between us and ourselves and between us and God.
We must constantly remind each other that we need to build a Christ-centred home and not a kid-centred home. It is a discipleship process. We need to create a culture where Christ is the centre. Parents are uniquely positioned to keep your eyes fixed on God and your finger on the pulse of the family. Our kids are entrusted to us. Parenting is the process where we focus on equipping mothers and fathers with effortless skills to enjoy their kids and embrace very scream, shout, tantrum or manipulation as part of raising children. We do not have to fight these behaviours but rather to form them in a loving environment. Our parenting discipline principles are based on Hebrews 12:11-13.
We believe authority consists of 12 building blocks and it is quite an interesting concept. It has more to do with order than it does with value or ability. Children should submit to their parents because God has given parents authority to raise, nurture, guide and disciple in love. We need the Lord to heal us and to fill our hearts with His wisdom and love.
The Evergreen Parenting course is a series of 6 sessions (over six weeks, once a week for 2 hours). Each facilitator walks a road of discipleship with the parents attending this Parenting Encounter series. Evergreen Parenting is based on Christian principles with a Biblical foundation.
The type of storms that confront a marriage in our world today requires the supernatural touch of God for a marriage to be successful. It’s not a case whether the storms will come, because they will, but whether your marriage is adequately equipped to deal with the storms when they arrive. The institution of marriage in our society has been very much trivialized. Commitment has gone out of fashion and people are marrying and divorcing with the flimsiest excuses these days.
In this course, we will help couples to develop a strong foundation, thus developing marriages that help to restore value into the institution of marriage.
We would like to see that couples invest in their relationship for a lasting marriage. During these sessions, the course will help you learn to communicate well, understand and appreciate your differences, each person’s role and calling in marriage, building self-esteem etc. This course is for people that’s exploring marriage for the first time or have been married before. Everything in this course is based on Christian principles with a Biblical foundation. At the end of each session each couple is given some homework to do together. This will help them build on what they have learnt and give them the opportunity to apply it to their relationship. It is for the couple’s own benefit.
The Marriage Preparation Course is a series of twelve sessions (over six weeks, once a week for 2 hours) to help engaged couples or those exploring the possibility of marriage, build strong foundations for their future together.
Divorce recovery focuses on the different phases a person goes through, on the journey to heal a broken heart. Although a hard journey, everyone learns more about themselves during this time. Life after divorce is so much harder than expected and self-forgiveness is a vital part of it. It is a time of grieving and dealing with loss. This is a journey for each individual that Jesus has come to heal their broken hearts and set them free.
The Divorce Recovery course is a series of 8 sessions (over four weeks, once a week for 2 hours) to help divorcees / children of divorce with a fresh perspective and to give them tools how to start a new ‘normal’.
