What to Expect

Built on The Word

Jesus is the Head of the Church, and we come to know Jesus primarily through God’s Word, the Bible. We believe the Bible, Old and New Testament, is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16) and that is why at Joshua Generation Church, the Bible is our final authority for faith, life and for the governance of the church. The Bible should be read, taught, understood and most importantly, obeyed. Only in renewing our thinking to be in line with God’s Word, will we find what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:2)

Led by the Spirit

As important as the Bible is, we also need the Holy Spirit to continually breathe His life into our life together. We believe the Holy Spirit is given to every believer for the common good. When we come together, any one or more of us might have a song, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. We are unapologetically enthusiastic for the Holy Spirit to move amongst us in these ways, as He did amongst the Early Church, because exercising these gifts builds up the church. That’s why, at Joshua Generation Church, we don’t run our meetings according to the clock, but by following the Holy Spirit. We may arrive with a plan, but we want to be flexible if the Spirit begins to lead us in a different direction.

The Holy Spirit will never do anything that goes against the Word of God, but He will still often surprise us. Sunday morning could see us dancing and celebrating God’s goodness, or on our faces in awe of God’s holiness, we might end up praying for the sick or spend a whole evening just soaking in His presence. Whatever God is doing, that’s what we want to do too.

Passionate in Devotion

We are commanded by Jesus to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our strength and with all our mind, and love our neighbour as ourselves (Luke 10:27). That’s why, at Joshua Generation Church, you will see us coming forward during worship, dancing energetically, and singing passionately. And it doesn’t stop there. Our desire is that every member would love and serve the Lord, not just with their lips, but with their hearts and with their hands. We believe that if we love God, we will love our brothers and sisters within the church too (1 John 4:20). We do this by caring for each other in moments of practical need, by praying for each other, and by walking in accountable relationships together.
